JOB TITLE: ATTORNEY
JOB SUMMARY:
Position is assigned to the APSC General Staff.
Primary duties include preparing and presenting cases before the Commission, other regulatory agencies and courts; handling appeals to appropriate courts; providing advice and counsel; and acting as a hearing officer in limited circumstances; other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The formal education equivalent of a law degree from an accredited law school.
Other job related education and/or may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements except for licensure requirements upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
SALARY: State Pay Plan Grade GS10

JOB TITLE: Attorney Specialist
JOB SUMMARY:
Position is assigned to the APSC General Staff. Primary duties include reviewing and analyzing data and documentation related to legal matters to determine General Staff’s position on issues. Writes legal briefs, motions, and other pleadings to support General Staff’s position. Advises General Staff management on potential legal issues and offers a legal opinion on actions General Staff may take on regulatory issues. Represents General Staff at hearings before the Commission; other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The formal education equivalent of a law degree from an accredited law school; plus three years of experience as a practicing attorney in the public or private sector. Must be licensed to practice law and admitted to the Arkansas State Bar in accordance with ACA 16-22-201.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Public utility regulatory experience and proven ability to strategically plan, quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate options and exercise sound judgement in decision making. Strong organizational skills highly desired.

SALARY: State Pay Plan Grade GS11
