Katie Anderson of Scott was appointed Chair of the Arkansas Public Service Commission by Governor Asa Hutchinson in October 2022. She assumed the role of Commissioner in January 2023.
Prior to joining the Commission, she served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Arkansas Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Commissioner Anderson’s family owns I.F. Anderson Farms, Inc. in Lonoke, a 4th generation bait fish farm in operation since 1949. She is a Vice President of the corporation and has also served as in-house counsel, where she managed a variety of legal issues for the business.
Commissioner Anderson previously served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Erin L. Wiedemann, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Arkansas; the Honorable Audrey R. Evans, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas; and the Honorable Karen R. Baker, Judge, Arkansas Court of Appeals.
From 2012 until 2015, she was Senior Manager of the State and Local Policy Team for Walmart Stores, Inc. where she engineered, individually and as part of a team, public policy initiatives and legislative strategies for more than 9 internal business units (including Health and Wellness, Labor Relations, Employment Compliance, Privacy, Workers’ Compensation, Benefits, Unemployment Insurance/Payroll, Legal/Tort Reform, and Fuel) in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Commissioner Anderson received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Arkansas in 1997 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2000. She is licensed to practice law in Arkansas.
Currently, she is a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), where she serves on the Committee on Energy Resources and Environment. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Organization of MISO States (OMS) and as a Director for the Entergy Regional State Committee.
