The Digital Television Transition is the nationwide, federal government mandated switch from analog to digital television broadcasting which will occur on June 12, 2009.
When the switch from analog to digital TV broadcasting occurs on February 17, 2009, your existing TV set may no longer work. What you need to do depends on the source of your television programming, whether you receive programming over-the-air through a television antenna or “rabbit ears” or from a paid provider such as a cable or satellite TV company. If you receive TV signals over-the-air through a roof-top or pole-mounted television antenna or TV-top “rabbit ears” and your TV set is not digital you will need to purchase a digital-to-analog set-top converter box to attach to your TV set to be able to view over-the-air digital programming.
